Metro
Health Fair
Care1st received many positive comments about
the Health Fair we sponsored on May 7 at the Metropolitan
Skills
Center
in Los Angeles. Over 400 people attended. Many obtained one
or more of the free screenings sponsored by Eli Lilly and
Company.
The screenings offered were for blood pressure,
blood sugar, total cholesterol, HDL, and bone density. Additionally,
Health Educators presented ½ hour seminars on nutrition,
women’s health and men’s health. Brochures covering
many health topics were available for attendees. The “Spin
the Wheel” game was a popular activity. Participants
could spin the wheel to choose a health question. If the
question chosen was answered correctly, the person would
win a prize.
Additionally, Planned Parenthood, PALS for Health,
Korean Health, Education, Information and Resource Center,
Didi Hirsch Mental Health Center and Ketchum-Downtown YMCA
provided information on Health and Community Resources. Also,
children enjoyed a puppet show sponsored by the Metropolitan
Skills Center.
